Growing up in the 60’s and being the oldest of 5 kids, my memory is of, no, not any of we kids hiding treats, no, it was our mom! Mom had birthed 5 kids in 14 years and, because of all that, was ALWAYS dieting. And, yeah, she would make us kind of participate in this healthy lifestyle BUT my two younger brothers and I figured out that our mom was pulling a con job. She was a chocolate freak and would stash her treasures all over the house. So, once Mom figured out we were on to her, the game was afoot. She got very creative in her hiding spots by hiding those Snickers, Reese Cups and M&M’s in places like book cases, even in bathroom closets under the towels and sometimes in plain sight. It became a family joke in that Mom would bring home treats and hide them just so we would find them. BTW…because she worked so hard raising us and hiding her stash, she did lose weight as well.
Ha! I think we all have our weaknesses and hiding spots; but the basement is not a good idea…. Sometimes I have to resort to the chocolate morsels on the baking shelf 👍
I used to use this heavy table in the basement because the top was granite. Despite its weight, you could slide it to the side and inside the wood base was plenty of spot to hide mini pies, cereal, and brownie mix. Lol.
The infamous and forever HIGHLY suspicious response of "nothing..." 😂🤣😂 (said both as someone who absolutely said that and thought it would work, and whose kids now say it and think it's foolproof)

That’s awesome. You must have felt like it was your lucky day if you were grabbing a towel to take a shower and suddenly found hidden chocolate.
You're a good artist and a good dad. :)
Thank you! 😊

haha. I’ve definitely resorted to the semi-sweet baking morsels as well in times of desperation. 😁

Love it. Maybe I should have weighed down my ottoman with a piece of granite on top of it.

It must be in our genes and we continue to pass it down… 😏
